This is a list of films, TV shows, commercials that 48-52 F Series trucks can be spotted in. If you know of one that's not on the list, post a message in the forum and it will end up here. Movies:Forrest Gump, 1994. Forrest (Tom Hanks) is chased by some redneckish lads in a 1951 F1. This is the infamous "run Forrest, run" scene. Volunteers, 1985. This flick starred Tom Hanks and John Candy. Based on that it should have been hilarious but unfortunately it sucked. At the end of the movie a lot of soldiers arrive. Some depart from a beautiful 48-50 truck. It could have been an F5 but I'm not sure. Ode to Billy Joe, 1976. The father drives a white F1. Back to the Future III, 1990. As they tow the DeLorean out of a cave you can see an F3 if you look carefully. Cast Away, 2000. At the end a woman driving an F100 meets Tom Hanks' character. It's not a 48-52 but it's a great truck. The Shawshank Redemption, 1994. Morgan Freeman rides to a field in the back of a 48-50 F1 after he is released from prison. Haha, Freeman was a free man--that's funny. Porky's, 1981. A 51 or 52 F1 can be seen. My Dog Skip, 2000. There's a quick shot of an F1. Nico the Unicorn. The submitter wasn't positive about the title but it was a kid's thing on Animal Planet. For a moment near the end of the film they showed a 48-50 F1. Tarrantula, 1955. Near the laboratory of the professor who creates the house sized spider is a 48-50 F1 panel. War of the Worlds, 1953. You know the story, but did you notice the 48-50 F1 forrestry truck in the beginning? Unknown Elvis Presley film. He drove a truck for Crown Electric in a movie that may have been an F1. Any more info? He actually did drive a truck for Crown Electric so maybe this was in the documentary This is Elvis. Any info would be appreciated. Blow, 2001. Old F Series trucks are all over the place if you look carefully. Pay particular attention to the first 10 minutes or so and you'll see several larger 52's. Hoosiers, 1987. There are a few Bonus Builts throughout the film. Wanted Dead or Alive, 1987. Starring Rutger Hauer and Gene Simmons (from Kiss). There is a burgandy 51 F1 with a chrome roll bar near the beginning of the film. Creator, 1985. Peter O'Toole tries to clone his dead wife but falls for his lab assistant, Mariel Hemmingway. She drives a blue 48-50 F1 and even changes the oil on it. Desperado, 1995. Part of Robert Rodriguez's Mariachi series. A 48-50 flatbed is seen in the opening scenes driving down a Mexican highway. Wrongfully Accused, 1998. Leslie Neilson does the usual parody of a variety of movies/genres and in the process an airplane crashes into a 51 or 52 F1, which blows up. Rally 'round the flag, boys. There's a 48-50 F2 in the opening scene. Kid Galahad, 1962. Elvis gets out of the army and a boxing coach wants to make him a prize fighter. Elvis just wants to lead a simple life and fix an F1 truck. Driven, 2001. Inside Sylvester Stallone's barn is a partially assembled 48-50 F1. The Fog, 1978. An F1 gets stuck in the mud at night trying to escape the" fog ". You can actually hear the old crashbox grind and whine. Smokey and the Bandit, 1977. A silver 51 or 52 F-1 is part of a teen C.B. club that helps screen Burt Reynolds from Sheriff Buford T. Justice It's a Mad Mad World, 1963. A 48-50 F-something appears in the opening scenes. Inventing the Abbotts, 1997. Look for a few old Fords in this one, including a 51 F1 near the beginning that pulls up behind a Ford panel truck. Television:The Twilight Zone: I Am the Night, Color Me Black (3-27-1964). A man is about to be hanged and the sun never comes up. There is a 48-50 panel with it's headlights on. The Twilight Zone: The Rip Van Winkle Caper (4-21-1961) Four thieves steal gold bullion and place themselves in suspended animation for a hundred years. Shortly after awakening one of the thieves runs over one of his comrades with a 48-50 F1 panel truck then drives it off a cliff. Pity. The Twilight Zone: One For the Angels (10-9-1959) A sidewalk salesman makes the greatest pitch of his life to save a little girl from "Mr. Death". To encourage the salesman Mr. Death has the little girl run over by a 48-50 F1. M*A*S*H: The Bus (10-17-1975) Radar, driving
the surgeons back from a conference, gets lost and stalls the bus. The
bus is a 51 or 52 Ford. This same bus was used throughout the production
of M*A*S*H from 1972 to 1983. M*A*S*H: Out of Gas (12-4-1978) Father Mulcahy and Maj. Winchester trade wine for medicine with some black marketeers. After being screwed by the black marketeers they wait as the crooks get drunk on the wine. Mulcahy and Winchester then steal their truck, a 48-50 F1. M*A*S*H: Death Takes a Holiday (12-15-1980) A group of Korean orphans come to the 4077 for a Christmas party. They arrive in a 48-50 F1 (same one used in Out of Gas). Sanford and Son: 1972-1977 Just as memorable as Redd Foxx's character is his junk truck, a 1951 F1. It was shown in the opening and closing credits of all 135 episodes. Emergency!: Saddled (10-21-1972)Station 51 rescues a man from his crashed 48-50 F1. As Johnny calls Rampart to report on the victim his truck explodes. Painful to watch. The Rockford Files: The Great Blue Lakeland and Development Company (10-17-1975) Jim breaks down in the desert and needs to lock up some bail money in a town that has no bank. Of course he loses the money. The Christmas Coal Mine Miricle (1977) TV movie. Tragedy strikes a small mining community one fateful Christmas Eve in 1951 when a series of explosions strike a mine notorious for its unsafe condition. It sounds like a typical 1970's tv movie (god awful) but apparently there is a 1950 4x4 F1 in it. Dickies commercial, year unknown. Long after their deaths, the Three Stooges are shilling for Dickies. Moe drives a truck onto a work site. It appears on a DVD collection of Three Stooges stuff. |
