I wish I had opted for this setup in the first place! There is a kit on the market that attaches to your STOCK gear box, uses all your original suspension parts, works GREAT, and as an added bonus it uses all Ford parts. The downside is that it costs $600. The kit consists basically of 2 parts and bunch of hoses. You replace your pitman arm and drag link with a special one that has a control valve in it. This is connected by 2 hoses to a ram cylinder attached to the axle and tie rod. Then of course you attach the whole thing to your power steering pump (not included). When you turn the wheel you are putting the usual mechanical force on the front wheels, but the power unit helps push the tie rod for you. It works better than you might imagine from my description,in fact this was the type of power steering that Ford used on nearly all it's cars in the 60's. You can install it in about an hour and <understatement of the year> you will definitely notice a difference in ease of steering </understatement of the year>.
