May 4, 2003

Okay, so the new pictures didn't show up. The story isn't worth telling, but here are the pictures.

May 3, 2003

Pictures are now up from the Fabulous Fords Forever show last week in Buena Park, CA. It was the typical huge show with Mustangs representing easily half of the cars there. I love em, but if you've seen one Mustang you've seen em all. 48-52 trucks were fairly well represented this year. I think there were more of them than any other vintage of truck, which is unusual. The pictures can be found here.

The display issue has been resolved. Everything should just center no matter what size/resolution monitor you are using.

It has come to my attention that some people are selling information that has been copied from websites such as this one. As far as I know nobody has done this with my material, but keep your eyes peeled when you're on Ebay and the like. This is tacky and illegal. If anybody is going to make a buck from this website it will be me, but I have chosen to make this website 100% free. This does't mean free for any plagarist scumbag, but free for the people who need the info.

The forum, bulletin board, postie place, or whatever you want to call it has been in operation for a month now and is a huge success. The only thing that can make it better is if more people participate. check out the Forum.

How does this website display for you? I've just switched to Mac from PC and the site looks much different. On the PC running 600x800 resolution this page took up the whole screen. On the Mac, running 1280x1024 there is a whole bunch of extra black space on the right hand side if I size the window very large. If anybody has issues with the site displaying funny, write me an email. By the way, if anybody is thinking about switching to Mac--do it if at all possible. You won't know how much better it is until you've done it.

HUGE anouncement for you all, and I think you'll like it.

SUPPLY AND DEMAND VS. F2-F8 TRUCKS

I know there are a lot of people coming here who own F2 through F8 trucks who are frustrated about not being able to find parts. You can buy every little thing for an F1, but can't even get brake shoes for an F7. That is a simple case of "supply and demand". Not many people have heavier trucks, so there is nearly no demand for the parts. If there is no demand, the manufacturers aren't going to lose money by making parts that won't sell. So what can you do? Let the people who make the parts know there is a demand. If they know there is a dollar to be made, they will make the parts.
David Ray owns a 1951 F3 and needs brake drums. He is launching a campaign to encourage JobLot Automotive to reproduce the drums for his truck. If you would buy drums, contact David at dwray2@earthlink.net. He wants to do something along the lines of a petition to pass along to JobLot. Come to think of it, if you have drums to sell you might want to contact David as well. If you have a part you can't find anywhere and wish it was reproduced, let the manufacturers know. Call JobLot, Dennis Carpenter, Sacramento Vintage, etc and let them know there's a demand. You won't get your parts overnight, but after a few calls they're going to know there's demand.
David passed along a message he received from James at Joblot Automotive. It is available here, and give some insight into how the repro parts business runs.
